Toothbrush

A toothbrush is an oral hygiene tool used to clean the teeth, gums, and tongue. It consists of a head of tightly clustered bristles, atop of which toothpaste can be applied, mounted on a handle which facilitates the cleaning of hard-to-reach areas of the mouth.

Most modern commercial toothbrushes are made of plastic. The handles are made of plastics that can be injected into molds. The most common plastics used are polypropylene and polyethylene. The toothbrush is the basis of daily oral hygiene, as it is critical for effectively removing bacterial plaque (oral biofilm) and for preventing the leading complications that its accumulation causes: tooth decay, gum disease, tooth sensitivity, halitosis, etc.
